Hi everyone!
We’re Robbie and Ethan — two passionate rowers and longtime members of the Glasgow University Boat Club (GUBC). This year, we’re taking on the ultimate test of endurance: an Ironman triathlon — all to raise funds for new and much-needed equipment for the club that has given us so much.
The Challenge
Robbie will be racing his Ironman in Wales this September, tackling a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, and a full marathon to finish.
Ethan follows in Barcelona this October, pushing through the same gruelling distances, driven by the same cause.
We’re not professional triathletes — we’re students balancing training with studies — but our motivation is simple: we want to give back to the club that shaped our university experience.
Why We're Doing This
GUBC isn’t just a sports club. It’s a community, a place where students come together, push each other to be better, and create friendships that last far beyond graduation.
But rowing is an equipment-heavy sport — and maintaining a competitive and inclusive environment requires constant investment in boats, oars, ergometers, and safety gear.
With your support, we can help ensure that future GUBC athletes have access to the best tools to chase their goals — just like we did.
Where Your Donations Go
Every penny raised will go directly toward upgrading and replacing essential equipment at Glasgow University Boat Club. This includes:
Racing shells and oars
Ergometers (indoor rowing machines)
Coaching tools and safety equipment
Maintenance and repairs to existing gear
No donation is too small — whether it’s £5 or £50, it all adds up and makes a real impact.
Stay tuned, cheer us on, and if you can, please donate and share this fundraiser with friends, family, alumni, and fellow rowing enthusiasts.
See you at the finish line,
Robbie & Ethan
