We are looking to help raise funds for my dad Rob Mills to cover medical cost and expenses.
On Sunday November 20th Rob was taken by ambulance due to a heart complication. He was admitted after a long 14 hours wait in the emergency department. He underwent several tests throughout the week with no diagnosis. When we got to the angiogram it was found that his main artery was 70-80% blocked. The determination was to do open heart surgery with a double bypass.
After a long week and spending thanksgiving in the hospital he was in great spirits and ready to knock this surgery out of the park!
Surgery took place on November 29th. The longest 5 hour wait (or so we thought) until the doctor came in to speak with us. He advised us the surgery had a complication. Dad had an underlying heart disease that was missed on the echo and they were not able to close him up at this time. His heart was only pumping about 20% on its own and he needed medication and a balloon pump to be stable. With the medication and pump he is pumping 40-50%. His chest anatomy could cause extra stress on the heart and he had a lot of bleeding at the time so the decision was made to leave his chest open and he would remain fully sedated in the ICU while they wean him off the medication and ballon pump.
If all goes well they will be closing him up on Friday December 2nd. He will need a biopsy in the near future to determine the heart disease and the treatment he will need. We do not know what his recovery will look like at this point and are asking for any assistance you could provide during this difficult time.
For anyone who knows my dad knows he is one of a kind. From his silly jokes to his infectious laugh to his big heart and love for everyone! He will get through this.
