Help Rob Nadler adapt at home after stroke

Donation protected
Rob Nadler suffered a severe stroke on October 7th, 2021 and was left partially paralyzed. Since then, he has been in several facilities in Connecticut. His stay in Connecticut included many weeks in ICU care due in part to a very serious blood infection. The complications delayed his recovery and resulted in him losing nearly 50% of his body weight. He was moved from CT to NH in February for further recovery and skilled rehabilitation. Despite aggressive therapy, he has not gained function of his left side and cannot walk, sit up, or get out of bed by himself.

Rob has been hoping to return to his home for six months and now his dream has been realized. However, there are many obstacles due to his handicapped condition. Rob will require special medical care and supplies, many that are not covered by insurance or Medicare. Equipment such as a hospital bed, a special mattress, a mechanical lift, a specialized wheelchair, adaptive equipment for grabbing or holding things, and exercise/rehab equipment all will be needed for him. In addition, funding will be necessary for caregivers to supplement care when the family is at work. His home will have to be adapted to allow for handicap accessibility. Ambulance transportation for medical appointments will also be required. Rob has been working very hard and has the will and optimism to progress further, but he requires 24-hour care at this time. We hope and pray that someday, with continued therapy, he will be able to gain more function.

Rob has been very active in promoting small businesses in the Mount Washington Valley as a member of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce, a founder of the White Mountain Independents, and has served on the boards of the Mount Washington Valley Economic Council, the North Country Council as well as a Selectman of the Town of Albany and several other Albany town boards. Rob played a key role in the establishment of the Albany Town Forest. He is the founder of Ragged Mountain Equipment that has been a part of the valley’s business community since 1985, manufacturing clothing and selling gear for the outdoor community.

Please help Rob hold on to dream of living at home in the Mount Washington Valley, as he has for over 40 years. No matter what size your donation, we send you a very heartfelt thank you.
