Help Rob McKain Heal!

Donation protected
James “Rob” McKain: a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, VT, and cook/chef extraordinaire at the local Pierces Store. Rob has been feeding the community for 10 years, filling the bakery case with delicious bread, cookies, over-the-moon muffins, and keeping the crockpot full of soups and stews to warm folks through the winters. And he needs our help.

In March, at the start of vacation, Rob became sick and was bedridden for two weeks, he returned to Vermont and was immediately hospitalized for a week with pneumonia at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. A week later, while recuperating at home, he was struck with a severe heart condition, and taken by emergency ambulance to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT for specialized treatment, another hospital stay and additional recovery.

Out of work for six weeks, Rob is just back cooking on a very part-time basis as he mends and gets his strength back. His Medicare will cover his basic treatment. In addition, he has very large medical bills from the two hospital stays and emergency care, in addition to living expenses and financial obligations. Rob needs help to heal!

This campaign has been set up by friends to pay his medical expenses, to benefit him as he has benefited others - the community and beyond – nourishing folks all these years! Please consider donating – any amount is welcome and thank you with all of our hearts…it takes a community!
