I'm writing this on behalf of my husband, Rob, because our family is facing one of the most difficult challenges we've ever experienced.

Robert is a proud 100% disabled veteran who has always faced life's obstacles with courage, resilience, and determination. Soon, he will undergo brain surgery at Duke University, where he'll be cared for by an exceptional team of specialists. We are incredibly grateful that his medical care is covered through the Department of Veterans Affairs, but his recovery will require him to be out of work for approximately 12 weeks, and for me to be home to assist his recovery as he will be an extreme fall risk due to the nature of the procedure.

During those three months, our household will lose a significant portion of our income while our everyday expenses continue. Rent and household bills, utilities, groceries, transportation, insurance, and other monthly obligations won't stop while he recovers. Our greatest hope is that he can focus entirely on healing without the added stress of worrying about our finances.

Asking for help is not something that comes easily to us. Rob has spent his life serving others and has always been the first to lend a helping hand. Today, we're humbly asking for support so he can concentrate on his recovery and return to the healthy, active life he deserves.
