Hello everyone! As you know I have been dealing with stage 4 colorectal cancer going on 3 years now and I am looking for help financially so can continue on treatment without worry. I have not been able to work during that time because I have had everything thrown at me to kick this disease.
It all started when I went into the hospital complaining about rectal bleeding and abdominal pain. After waiting a long time and being told that I had "hemroids" they finally got me in for a colonoscopy, only to find I didn't have 2 hemroids I had a tumor that went was on either side of my rectum . I was then rushed to Victoria Cancer clinic where I started 25 shots of radiation and oral chemo. About half way through radiation I had a pet scan to confirm that I had leisons in my liver and was given the official diagnosis of stage 4. It was right around then i married the love of my life Marcy Burridge in my mother inlaws back yard. A simple ceremony with only friends and family in attendance. I still tear up when I remember it,it was that special to me. After radiation I started IV chemo, the hard hitting florfox (for those who know what it is). After 11 doses of that with a EGRF inhibitor I had complete response in my liver! Everything went away! So I had a LAR of my sigmoid colon where I was left with a temporary ostomy bag. I walked out of the hospital on my own power on day 3 ! During the year I had off I enjoyed life! I went to Jamaica and was thoroughly enjoying life!
On my scan leading into my liver surgery they found that the leisons on my liver "woke up"!
So back into chemo. I had another 6 doses of florfox and on the scan they found that the chemo had stopped working, so I was whisked away to my first liver surgery. I was scheduled for a resection/ablation and ended up staying in Vancouver General Hospital. When I had my scan to make sure they got it all they found 4 that was left that Ibehind, so I had 2 more out patient ablation procedures done. On my 2nd one I checked in at 8 am and was on the 10 o'clock boat home! Just like that! 2 tumors killed and back to my bed! I joked I could have done it on a day trip! After that I had an appointment with my chemotherapist who said "go live life (again) and don't think about the cancer or it will come back. So what did I do to keep my focused!? I bought a dog! And what a beautiful one at that! So another year passed and I did alot of traveling of this beautiful island! I've been coast to coast and have been to every point! Man I live in a beautiful paradise!
After a year of clean scans they found that I had more leisons in my liver and a "suspicious" spot on my lung . So needless to say I am back on chemo ! This one isn't as hard but presents a different amount of side effects.
So that brings me to present day. We are coming up on 3 years dealing with cancer. From being told hemroids to IV chemo. I haven't had a chance to work during this time and my beautiful wife/care taker has been the primary bread winner but it has taken a toll on her. To work and watch her husband go through hell and back eats at a person. She is tough like me but this has turned into an marathon. That why I am doing this go fund me. Any money I can raise will help with her having the ability to focus on our family. It has taken alot for me to ask for charity. I've been working since I have been a kid and I am kinda smart with money. I had savings but they are drying up on this very unexpected path life has given me. I have experienced alot and have learned even more and I have finally learned to ask for help. So I ask if anyone can donate, because any money raised will help me kick this stupid disease! Thank you very much for reading my story and thank you so much for any donations we can raise! Peace, love and respect!
