Help Rob and Karen Reach MD Anderson
Donation protected
Rob Smith, the fearless leader we have loved and respected is in need of our help. His cancer journey began in January 2024 with an initial diagnosis of Stage 4 esophageal cancer. His care team in Fresno determined he also has liver cancer. After 6 chemo treatments and much healing prayer, we praise our God there is currently no trace of esophageal cancer. Unfortunately, during his last round of chemo, his care team missed critical heart issues that ultimately resulted in 4 stents and a case of sepsis (losing his toenails and fingernails, severe neuropathy, intolerance to cold temperatures.) Rob cannot receive further treatment until his heart issues have fully resolved. Though his liver biopsies and pet scans show negative for cancer, they are adamant it is positive and want him to return to chemo treatments. He has recently developed further complications and is now receiving systemic care.
Rob needs a second opinion. Rob and Karen forwarded his medical records to MD Anderson Cancer Clinic in Houston. They have agreed to accept his case and moved him up to first available on wait list. MD Anderson has been ranked number one in the nation for cancer care in the US. The Smith’s have given this much prayer and feel this is the next step.
Since Rob carries Kaiser insurance, this second opinion and testing will be out of pocket. Though we are unsure of the final costs, we are looking to raise $20,000 to send the Smith’s to MD Anderson where they will repeat scans, endoscopies, and biopsies under the care of the top oncologists in the US. This money will cover airfare, hotel, and all necessary medical procedures, and hospital stay. He will remain in Houston for a week to 10 days while tests are completed. We need to raise these funds asap but trust the Lord will provide and direct. That's only 20 friends donating $1,000 or 40 friends donating $500..or 100 friends donating $200...see where Im going with this? Totally possible!!
I am asking you to prayerfully consider how to come along the one who has walked beside thousands of people through recovery over the past 30 years. Rob is a faithful servant. He loves Christ with a deep unwavering love. Rob has committed his life to serving Christ and leading others in the good news of the Gospel. Even in the face of cancer, Rob’s wish is that the Lord be glorified through this difficult journey. We know the Lord is able, everything in the heavens and earth is His. Every donation is appreciated. Every prayer is appreciated. How have the Smith’s been handling this? You might have guessed…”One Day at A Time.” How beautiful is the Body of Christ. Please share
