Hey Everyone, this is Rizzo and Daniel. Our once trusted friend/housemate and leaseholder of our home turned out to be a complete and verified scammer, stealing thousands of dollars from us, owing our landlord thousands of dollars and was found out and evicted. They gained our entire trust until the landlord, (whom Rizzo has known for several years) reached out to inform me that she was thousands of dollars delinquent between the lease and bills and had never given the payments we had sent to her. We quickly all uncovered a terrible situation and this person's history of past evictions and owing thousands of dollars to various entities over the last several years. She was promptly evicted and had movers sent to the house while she was away visiting her parents (and tried to clear the entire house of property that is not hers). There are many more disturbing details but this is not a smear campaign, hence keeping her anonymous currently unless you've been to our home.
While our landlord tried what she feasibly could to hopefully have us take over the house, it would require starting from scratch with a new lease as new tenants, all deposits included which is several thousand dollars we do not have on top of not even being able to afford the monthly rent without someone else who is capable of half of the rent. Not cheap.
At the same time Rizzo found out that his grandfather (grandparents are the only family he has) has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and his condition is progressing much quicker than expected. Rizzo has wanted to move back to his home of Albuquerque for years and Daniel has always wanted to live there. So we have decided to sell and give away whatever we can and shotgun move back to New Mexico.
Any help at all would move mountains for us right now. We are an autistic, poor, interracial couple with a rescue dog that got completely taken advantage of, leaving us with an extremely hard new beginning either way. Funds will go to offsetting the moving costs of car maintenance, and the application and deposit on a new home (which will be wildly more affordable than one here in NOLA), as well as our dog Gumbo's meds and general life costs as we try to get back on our feet.
We also would like to give to our community here any way we can. We have a BOUNTY of things that we need to get rid of to pare down for the drive, and it's a total Mardi Gras material paradise. Nearly all vintage: textiles, hand sewn ribbons, antique Flemish and French leavers lace, other old ass lace, fake flowers, vases, lamps, very old and expensive pieces of furniture, books, dishes--you name it. If you aren't able to make a donation, but would like to come buy some of these precious items off of us for bargain prices, please reach out to us. We know everyone is struggling right now, so that's why we're offering these things for very, very low donation-based costs.
Thank you if you've made it to the end of this fucking novel. We love all of you so much and can't wait for you to see us thriving in our new life because of each of you that have gotten us there.
