Help Floriza stay comfortable on her final days

Hi! Hope you've all been well and safe. My name is Cris and I am fundraising for my friend, Floriza.

Riza and I have been friends for almost 30 years now, since we all came in America from the Philippines around the same time. We worked together for years at Fisherman's Wharf and have kept in touch and built a long lasting friendship.

Riza is a nurse by profession. Her medical journey began on June 24, 2020 when she was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer. She underwent 8 cycles of chemotherapy. She was in remission since Jan 2021. 

In May 2021, she had an ileostomy takedown surgery. Early this month, she had another surgery (lysis of adhesions) and that was when the doctors found out that the cancer had already spread throughout her intestinal lining below the diaphragms. She was given a poor prognosis and was told she only has a few days or weeks to live. 

In spite of all this, Riza remains hopeful, grateful, and still, her old funny self. She continues to make us laugh when we visit her, when it should be the other way around. She tells us to think that heaven will be gaining another angel when she passes on. And her only child, DeiDei, will be taken care of, since she will have mothers, through friends like us. 

Riza's goals of care now is palliative care and comfort focused. She is currently staying at the Brun's House. It's an in-patient hospice facility for terminally ill patients and their loved ones. This house provides her a combined intensive round-the-clock care that cannot be received at home or at skilled nursing facility. 

Unfortunately, it comes with a cost. The daily cost for the family is $1,500.

Riza's family, like everyone else, has been affected by COVID. Her husband, Dante, was laid off last year and the family has been paying for their medical expenses thru COBRA since June 2020.

Riza wishes to stay at Brun's House but she does not want to put a financial burden to her family that she will eventually leave behind.

Please help me raise money for Riza so she can stay at Brun's House where she continues to receive the best care possible and the best quality of life for her and her family. Any amount is appreciated. Prayers for Riza and her family is very much needed and welcome.
