Help Riza Battle Cancer
HELP RIZA BATTLE CANCER, organized by her cousins
Please allow us to introduce our childhood first cousin Rizalina Dalangin Yumul (Riza for short) who we practically know since we were kids, and whom we admire for her kindness and resilience.
Riza is now 60 years old, and a full time housewife who lives with her husband, their four (4) children and her 85-year old mom whom she dutifully takes care of in a resettlement area in Mabalacat, Pampanga in the Philippines.
A month ago, Riza was officially diagnosed with multiple myeloma, more commonly known as cancer of the bone, which affects the immune system and starts in specific white blood cells called plasma cells mostly found in the bone marrow. At the time of diagnosis, Riza has already started to experience excruciating bone pain in the legs and skull, pounding headache, and severe fatigue. Consequently, she has started to have treatment for her kidneys too.
Due to economic hardship, Riza and her family made the difficult decision to concentrate on medicinal treatment in order to relieve symptoms and provide her relief from pain, rather than pursuing the financially delibitating chemotherapy and radiology treatments.
Alas, even with medicinal treatment alone, which covers intravenous vitamins, antibiotics and painkillers, the family continues to incur an average of Php45,000.00 (USD$950.00) per month.
This staggering cost is now besieging Riza who primarily relies on financial support from her daughter who works in Taiwan, and on her husband’s meager income as a jeepney driver. Her husband’s income can barely meet the family’s daily needs, and continues to drop especially during these pandemic period.
We are reaching out to your kind heart to help Riza’s family as they struggle to make ends meet in order to help improve her quality of life while fighting cancer!
