Help River's Family Focus on Grieving

UPDATE: Please see the latest update. I have increased the amount of this fundraiser to try and help River's family now.

Our friend, River Gogh Moon, was in a very bad auto accident this past weekend. They are hospitalized with injuries that include multiple broken ribs, two fractured vertebrae in their neck, a lacerated spleen, and bruising to their carotid artery. Today, Tuesday the 13th, their spleen burst, and they were rushed into emergency surgery. They are currently intubated and sedated post-surgery.

It is devastating to think of River going through this right now. They have dealt with multiple medical crises for years, including undergoing surgery last winter that has resulted in medical bills they are still paying off.

We want to raise money to help River as they deal with the financial impact of the situation. In addition to the medical expenses we know will pile up, River's ability to work will be impacted, resulting in precarity at a time when they need to be focused on nothing but healing.

River is a student Plymouth State University and, quite simply, an amazing, talented, kind, and gentle human. They are double-majoring in fine art and interdisciplinary studies (focussing on museum studies). They have worked at offices across campus, including the CoLab, Museum of the White Mountains, and Lamson Library. They are so close to finishing their college degree, with one semester left, and have worked so hard to get to this place, despite the numerous roadblocks life has thrown in their way. It's particularly hard to see them dealing with this traumatic event when they are so close to earning their degree.
