Help River Beat Leukemia Again

This GoFundMe page is started because my sweet friend and co-worker, Cecilia Peedin’s son River has relapsed. They will need as much help as humanely possible with medical bills. Cecilia’s words…It has been 8 years to the day that River was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 2 years old. We found out on Friday that our sweet River has relapsed. As you can imagine, we are heartbroken and devastated that he has to go through this again. He started the morning with a spinal tap and bone marrow biopsy. Once we get the results later this week, we will know more of the course of treatment he will need. Tomorrow he will get his port placed and start a reinduction phase of chemo and steroids which will be more intense than when he was first treated in 2017. We have been admitted to the hospital and will be here for a month so they can closely monitor him. After the month, they will do another bone marrow biopsy to see if there are still traces of leukemia present. If not, his course of treatment will be shorter but if there is still leukemia present (which we will be praying against) a bone marrow transplant will be in his future. River was upset when we first told and rightfully so. No kid should have to endure this awful disease. He has such positive attitude but is feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment. All he wants is to be at school with his friends and be able to play basketball.

Specific prayers requests

-for the treatment to get rid of the cancer once and for all

-that River will not need a bone marrow transplant and will be able to get through treatment rather quickly

-for our family to navigate our new normal

-pray for Jonah as he has to walk through his family being apart and relive all the emotions again
