Rita is a five-year-old Rottweiler Shepherd mix who came into our lives just three weeks ago when we began fostering her from the Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. She is a loving, gentle, and beautiful girl who has already endured so much.
A traumatic injury led to the amputation of her left front leg a couple of months ago, and she was saved from euthanasia with literally minutes to spare. Rita’s rescue was only possible because of the dedicated work of a volunteer at the shelter named Bea, who reached out to Fur Paws With Love Rescue organization. Thanks to their compassion and quick action, Rita was given a second chance at life. Now, in a safe and caring foster home, Rita is beginning her journey toward healing and happiness.
Losing a front leg puts tremendous strain on a dog’s remaining limbs, often leading to pain and arthritis over time. A custom-fitted wheelchair can ease that burden, protect her joints, and give her the freedom to move without suffering. It’s expensive, but every dollar helps keep her from a lifetime of chronic pain. Along with a wheelchair, physical and emotional rehabilitation will help Rita regain her strength, confidence, and joy in her everyday life. She is so full of love and light, and she deserves every chance at a long, happy future.
So many people have come together to give this beautiful dog a safe and happy new life. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings Rita closer to a life free from pain and full of play, love, and adventure. Please help her take that next step toward a brighter, healthier future. Your support means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for any help you can give.
