Help Rita DiRito Through This Difficult Time

On June 10, 2025, our beloved friend Rita DiRito said goodbye to her mother, affectionately known as Jammer. For the past three years, Rita has dedicated her entire life to being her mother’s full-time caregiver, putting everything else aside to offer comfort, dignity, and love in her final years.

Rita left behind her work as a doula, childbirth educator, midwife, massage therapist, healer, and so much more to care for her mom at home in Maine. Her devotion has been nothing short of heroic.

Now, in the wake of this loss, Rita is facing not only the emotional weight of grief but also financial hardship. As a single mother of three, she has been quietly struggling for some time, even relying on food pantries in Maine to keep her family fed. With Jammer’s passing, there are added expenses and debts that she’s now carrying alone.

Many of you know Rita as a deeply compassionate soul—whether you met her in Chicago, where her family lived for many years, or through her powerful work as a doula, midwife, massage therapist, or healing arts practitioner. She has touched the lives of countless people around the world with her wisdom, her hands, her heart.

Rita has always been the person who shows up, gives generously, and asks for little in return. She’s one of those rare people who truly embodies service and love.

Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.

I’m asking Rita’s friends, family, clients, and community—those who love her and those whose lives have been changed by her—to donate whatever you can to help lift the financial weight she’s carrying. This will give her and her family some much-needed breathing room as they grieve and begin to heal.
