Early this morning, we were woken by the sound of our sweet boy, Ringo, thrashing around in his bed, having what we suspected to be a seizure or other neurological event. After monitoring him and consulting our veterinarian, we rushed him to VREC in Norwalk while he remained out of it. He was unable to walk, still thrashing, and urinating on himself.
The team at VREC got him right back, and we found out he'd eaten a medication that had dropped on the floor. He has stabilized but will require overnight care and monitoring.
With a long history of animal welfare work, I have a unique understanding of what it feels like to be on the other side of this, but this is the first time I'm making a fundraiser for my own animal. His estimate is here for transparency. We are a working family, but like most families, this cost is just not doable—we simply don't have it, and we do not qualify for programs like Care Credit. I'm not embarrassed to say that, after the years of work I've done helping other families navigate these situations, but it is certainly humbling.
Ringo is a beloved family pet, the Bus Stop Mascot, and an integral part of our family structure. Please consider helping us help him if you are able to do so. We are so thankful for any support you can offer.
