Rilyn and Brodyn were born on 11/21/21 at 26wks 4days gestation weighing 2lbs 2oz and 2lbs 8oz. Around 21-22wks gestation, our baby boy A, Brodyn's amniotic sac started leaking. He eventually lost all of his amniotic fluid around 24wks. We were able to hold on another 2 weeks before intense contractions forced us to have an emergency c-section.
Rilyn and Brodyn's NICU stay has been a very hard battle thus far with lots of ups, downs, loops & turns. They've both had several doses of surfactant, been intubated, extubated, & reintubated (more than once) They have undergone several infections, pneumonia & even went on steroids to complete the dart protocol to try & help their lung development.
New Year's Eve night Rilyn was transported to Cook Children's Medical Center to be evaluated by a surgeon bc she had developed NEC & was very very sick. That night she got a penrose drain & a few days later had surgery where they removed about half of her intestines. She is currently on the conventional ventilator & has an ostomy bag. We are praying her swelling continues to go down & that we can start feeding her through an og tube soon.
Brodyn is still at Baylor & has since developed aspiration pneumonia & has a urinary tract infection. He's on the oscillator needing 100% oxygen help & is in critical condition. The antibiotics weren't working so we recently switched them & are praying he makes a right turn very soon. We are currently fighting to have him transferred to Cook's to be with sister & to receive a higher level of care.
We also have two other boys at home ages 6 & 2. We are trying our best to be present for each of our kids & keep up with our home, but it's getting tough. Lots of people have reached out to us asking how they can help encouraging us to set up this gofundme page. Medical expenses are adding up quick & I can admit that having some extra funds would help us tremendously with this journey. We still have a long road ahead of us & have no idea what's around the corner. If you can donate to help alleviate our financial burden we'd be forever grateful. We are already so so appreciative for all the prayers & kind words & love you all! #evanstwins #rilynandbrodyn
