PLEASE HELP!!

My name is Alder and I'm fundraising for Riley, a 23-year-old trans future UCSC re-entry student currently facing homelessness, unemployment, medical bills, and $8k in student debt. Riley lost her job last week and has been applying for jobs and attending interviews every day, but has still been unable to once again secure employment and is struggling to find a place to live at the same time. She has less than 1k in the bank and will be on the streets if she doesn't find a place to live by August 1st.

The cost of living in Santa Cruz, California, is significantly higher than both the national and state averages. Specifically, it's about 52% higher than the national average and 31% more expensive than the average California city, due to high housing costs.

Rileys parents gave her a lifetime of coniditional love which finally boiled over in 2023, when her parents cut her off unless she agreed to be admitted to an inpatient mental health program near her home town, ~500 miles away from Santa Cruz. Riley and her therapists agreed that would be a very bad outcome for her, and she has not recieved any support from them since- monetarily or otherwise.

We have reached out to her parents for help but they are only interested in supporting Riley if she comes back to their emotionally abusive home. I am genuinely concerned that environment would not only remove all sense of independence Riley has, but would also worsen her mental health to the point of suicidality, as it did when she last lived with them. Her parents sold her car without her consent to pay for her college, then left her with $8K of student debt they had signed off on paying.

Please help Riley survive in one of the most expensive cities in the US.
