On Sunday evening December 14th, 17 year old Riley Arment was involved in a devastating
head on collision on Old Philadelphia Pike when another vehicle came in her lane. She had to
be extracted from her vehicle at the scene and was initially transported to Lancaster General
Hospital before being airlifted to Hershey Medical Center for further care.
Riley sustained severe and life altering injuries as a result of the crash. The full extent of her
injuries is still unknown. She suffered significant fractures to both legs, including a compound
fracture to her lower tibia near her right ankle and a serious injury to her left patella, both
requiring emergency surgery. She also broke her jaw in three places, lost several teeth and
sustained a traumatic brain injury. Since then, Riley had her jaw surgery on Tuesday, December
23rd and her jaw is currently wired shut.
In the coming days, Riley will be transitioning to a pediatric rehab hospital for an undetermined
amount of time, where she will undergo extensive therapy and rehabilitation for both her physical and brain injuries. The road ahead will be long, challenging and uncertain, but she is here and for that, we are endlessly grateful!
Before the accident, Riley was a vibrant, active high school senior with a bright future ahead of
her. She was juggling school with club and Garden Spot soccer, National Honor Society,
volunteering at New Holland Elementary and a part time job. Riley is hardworking,
compassionate and driven and she plans to attend college to pursue a career as a nurse
practitioner so she can help and care for others. Her confidence, independence, determination
and resilience continue to shine through even now as she faces the hardest challenge of her
life!
We are asking for support for Riley and her family as they navigate an overwhelming season
filled with hospital stays, time away from work, travel expenses and medical costs that may not
be fully covered by insurance. Your generosity will allow her family to focus on what matters
most—Riley’s healing.
The prayers, love and support shown so far have meant more than words can express. If you
feel led to donate, please know every contribution, no matter the amount, lifts a tremendous weight. Continued prayers, shares and words of encouragement are deeply appreciated by the Arment/Moats family and everyone who loves Riley so much!
Thank you for standing with Riley during this long road toward recovery!
