Help Riley Fight Cancer & Fight for a Cure!

Donation protected
This might sound crazy, but our dog and family are fighting to cure cancer in dogs and humans. You'll read our story below, but the short version is that we've made a huge sacrifice to save our Riley because he is a major part of our hearts. In working with our local vet (Cedar Creek Vet in Williamston, Michigan), two different MedVet locations (Columbus and Dayton, both in Ohio) and Elias Pharmaceuticals, we put Riley in an amazing new program that treats bone cancer.

This program gives hope to families like ours because bone cancer is normally very bad news with not very long to say goodbye. You can do chemo and radiation, but those don't usually give much to bone cancer patients, so we decided to put that money into a Hail Mary option instead. This miracle could lead to a cure, possibly even a vaccine for cancer! (The science is there!)

This science is already being used in humans with brain cancer!

Riley's Story:

Riley is the best dog ever! I know many people believe that about their fur babies, and they're right. However, Riley has helped our family through a lot of loss. When he was diagnosed with bone cancer in March, we knew we had to do everything possible to save him, which meant we were in for a fight.
Riley started as a Gift for my son's 11th birthday, but he loves all of us. He just knows when we need him. Some animals are here for deep healing, you know? They are here giving and teaching unconditional love. Riley has been with us through losses and illnesses, and he has helped lift our hearts when things in our lives have seemed bleak.

When we were given Riley's diagnosis and saw the outlook of bone cancer with the current treatments of chemo and how it does not work, we didn't give up but decided to fight. (And way too many dogs die of cancer - up to 85% of dogs get cancer in some breeds! So, we are happy to fight that fight, too!)

I struggle with a chronic illness and am always reading and trying to find new information. I recently read some interesting information on cells. There is a lot of information locked within cells that we do not currently use. So, when my husband brought me the information regarding this new treatment from Elias/MedVet, I knew with everything in my body that it was the right path.

The numbers made sense. Dogs are living longer with this program than with chemo, and the science is already being used on humans with brain tumors! The science is there for this to become something amazing, even a cure - a vaccine for cancer. Wouldn't that be amazing!?!? A cure would mean no more humans or dogs dying of cancer! <3

How we got started ...

**If your dog has bone cancer and you want to do this procedure, you can leave a small donation here to be given the option of leaving me a message. I will see your email address and reach out to you. GoFundMe doesn't allow me to leave phone numbers or links here.**

My husband contacted Elias and got everything set up. We didn't even know how much things were going to cost until we had already begun the process, so there was no going back. However, we were thankful we didn't know because being afraid to take this leap would have cost Riley his life.

The Financials:

My husband contacted Elias and got everything set up. We didn't even know how much things were going to cost until we had already begun the process, so there was no going back. However, we were kind of thankful we didn't know because being afraid to take this leap could have cost Riley his life.

If we had known this would cost over $20,000, we would have questioned where the money was going to come from, but we found some of it. The remainder is now on our credit card, which is freakin' me out. I don't want us to get in a bad spot, but I also do not regret for one moment that we are fighting for Riley. I have faith that somehow help will arrive.

I've made this fundraiser for $5,000 with the hope to pay off a portion of what's left of the expenses for the treatment Riley has already received. We will still have a few more medical expenses as we have to get chest X-rays every three months.

Anything you can donate will help and is appreciated. It can be easy to say one doesn't have the funds, especially when everyone has bills to pay, but a lot of good can be done with many small donations. :)
