Hello :)
My name is Riley, I am a 25-year-old trans woman.
I'd like to keep this short and sweet. I need electrolysis / laser hair removal on my face and neck.
When I was 14, I knew that I was not cisgender. I'd actually argue that I've always known I wasn't cisgender, but I didn't have the language for it as a young kid.
I asked my parents to go on puberty blockers, specifically to avoid having to pay for something we could've gotten ahead of, but they refused and I was left experiencing a puberty that was never meant for me.
Now, in adulthood, I have to shave my face twice a day every single day. I can't always afford to buy razors, and my skin is suffering from the rigorous shaving I do.
I am asking for $3000 to help me cover the (estimated) full expense of electrolysis or laser hair removal.
Electrolysis can be very painful and a very long process. They stick a little metal rod in your hair follicle shaft, zap it, and pluck the dead hair out. The electrolysis technician does this for every individual hair, usually in 30-60 minute sessions.
Laser can be slightly more manageable pain-wise, and affordable, as well as being most effective on people with darker hair.
To have a face completely cleared of facial hair would mean gender euphoria to me. I'd hide my face less, I'd feel beautiful. Unfortunately, my gender dysphoria is stubborn and I can't just get by with makeup, so these are the only ways forward for me.
Thank you for your support <3
