Hi, my name is Rikki, and I never thought I’d be asking for help like this—but right now, we don’t have a choice.

Our furnace has broken down, and our home has not been able to get warmer than around 60 degrees in the main living space. With winter temperatures outside, this has quickly become more than an inconvenience—it’s affecting our daily life and our safety.

This situation impacts my partner, my child, and our pets, all of whom are trying to live, sleep, and function in a home that simply isn’t warm enough. We’re layering clothes, using blankets constantly, and doing everything we can to manage—but it’s not sustainable, especially for a child and animals.

We’ve had the furnace looked at and have been told it needs significant repair or replacement, which is far beyond what we can afford right now. We’ve looked into assistance programs and unfortunately the Repair and Replace program was defunded this year and emergency assistance tells us that the cost of the repair is greater than what they deem my house to be worth. We tried using electric heaters but unfortunately they constantly trip our breakers.

I’m asking for help to cover:

Furnace repair or replacement

Emergency service and installation costs

Any immediate measures needed to keep our home safe and livable
