Hello, friends, family, and compassionate strangers,

Rigoberto Agustín Ramirez (Rigo), a coffee farmer, activist, educator, organizer and friend to many, has been diagnosed with liver cancer. He needs our help to pay for treatments so he can get back to the vital work he has been passionately doing for decades.

We are launching this GoFundMe together with the Agustín family to help cover the remaining costs of Rigo's medical care. Thanks to the generous support of family, friends, and allies, Rigo was able to begin chemotherapy. Now we need to raise approx. $7,000 USD in additional funds to ensure that he can complete his treatment. This prohibitively expensive for a family farmer in Guatemala but we believe that it takes a village and that together we can meet the challenge.

We are also raising funds to support fellow Santa Anita community member Tomas Mauricio Tema who has been battling the debilitating effects of Arthritis. Tomas requires knee replacement surgery urgently to preserve his mobility and ensure that he can continue to support himself, his partner, Maria Amalia Alvarado Nolasco, and the many communities with whom he works as an agricultural and apicultural facilitator.
