Rig, my German shepherd, has been my constant companion and support for the past three years. He’s helped me stay healthy and happy, and I haven’t had a single drop of alcohol since he came into my life. After losing my last two dogs, I was lost, but Rig got me back on track and gave me hope again.
Last Thursday night, Rig squeezed out of my truck window while I quickly went inside. A man saw him run onto highway 13, where he was hit by a car. Scared, Rig ran down the frontage road and disappeared. I tracked him for 4.5 hours before finally finding him curled up in a ditch, cold and injured. I rushed him to the pet hospital, where they ruled out internal bleeding but found he had a dislocated front knee—a serious injury that takes a lot of force. I’m lucky he’s alive.
Rig now faces a long road to recovery. He needs surgery to save his leg, weekly casts, x-rays, and months of care. Every bit of support will go directly to Rig’s medical expenses and treatment, giving him the best chance to keep his leg and live a happy, healthy life. Rig means everything to me, and any help you can give would mean the world to both of us.
