Help Ricsan to pay his mom's medical bills

Donation protected
Ricsan San Diego together with his wife Jennifer has been our friends for more than a decade now. They are literally "the brother/sister from another mother". They are kind, thoughtful and selfless people who are willing to help whoever is in need.

This year has been very challenging for them as a family. Losing immediate family members within months apart has shaken their lives. More recently, Ricsan's Mama (mother) fell ill due to Covid-19. Tita Susan as we fondly call her is very sweet and thoughtful (Ricsan probably took that from her). Everyone is beautiful and handsome in her eyes. She will call everyone "maganda" (beautiful) and "gwapo" (handsome).

With Tita Susan's comorbidities (high blood pressure, diabetes requiring insulin, heart enlargement, and seizure disorder) her simple flu-like symptoms quickly escalated to severe Covid-19 pneumonia. She required strong doses of intravenous antibiotics, antiviral medications, high doses of steroid, and high flow oxygen.

As a loving son, Ricsan wanted to be with his mom to take care of her. En route to the Philippines, Tita Susan's condition further deteriorated. She became agitated, confused and her breathing became more labored which prompted her medical team to initially put her on bi-pap (non-invasive airway management). However, after a couple of days being on bi-pap, her condition did not improve and became lethargic. In the hopes of saving her life, Ricsan and his family decided to have Tita Susan intubated and breathe through a mechanical ventilator. Tita Susan's medical team foresees her to be in this state for another 2-3 weeks.

Ricsan is a very hardworking man and will always save for the future. He is a self sufficient family man and has supported his family's needs throughout these years. However, with these year's challenges, his lifetime savings as a nurse in Canada plus his other properties are all consumed due to the ongoing medical expenses. As of this writing, their running bill is almost 1.8 million pesos (CAD 45,000).

As a son, Ricsan wants to give his mom the best fighting chance to overcome this medical crisis. As their friends, we share this burden with them and we appeal to your kind hearts to consider donating any amount to this kind family. We are also asking you to pray for her quick recovery and share this post. Thank you and God bless us all.
