Help Support Ricky’s Fight Against Stage Four Cancer & Support for Cynthia and the Kids

Hi everyone,

I’m writing on behalf of my sister in law, Cynthia, and her beautiful family.

Ricky, her husband, is one of the most kind, and resilient people you could ever meet. He's an incredible husband and a devoted father to Riley and Sienna. To me, Ricky is like a brother always caring, thoughtful, and never too busy for a chat. He is the heart of their family, quietly bringing light and strength even on the hardest days.

Ricky’s Diagnosis and Fight

In November 2024, Ricky was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. By the time it was discovered, it had already spread to his liver (including three large masses), lymph nodes, lungs, and pancreas Involvement. To make matters even more difficult, the cancer carries a BRAF mutation, making it aggressive and fast moving.

Ricky fought hard enduring the most aggressive chemotherapy available, resulting in extreme sickness, constant fatigue, and severe pain. As a result from treatment Ricky developed neuropathy in his hands and feet, making everyday life incredibly painful.

His courage throughout this fight has shown a level of strength and determination that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone.
Through it all, Ricky never gave up. Cynthia and the kids stood by him as his rock supporting him through the unimaginable.

By mid 2025, there was hope. Ricky achieved a full response, and for a brief moment, the family could breathe again.

The Return of the Cancer

Christmas Eve 2025 - what should have been a joyful night for
the family quickly became the moment their world shattered with the devastating news that the cancer had returned, spreading relentlessly through Ricky's body including his bones, liver, lymph nodes, and lungs.

Ricky began targeted therapy and immunotherapy treatments, but sadly, they didn't work, and the cancer kept advancing. His Oncology Team is now preparing for Ricky to begin back on the original chemotherapy regime, the only treatment that has previously shown results.

March 2026 — Urgent Care

In early March 2026, The family was separated again as Ricky was rushed to Perth, with Cynthia for pain management and radiation after the cancer flared in his bones, pressing on a nerve and causing excruciating pain down his left side.

A short while after returning home, Ricky began experiencing severe symptoms and Doctors confirmed the cancer in the liver had worsened causing bile duct complications, jaundice and the possibility of needing a stent. With the situation becoming critical, the decision was made to urgently fly Ricky back to Perth as he can not start chemotherapy until further liver investigation occurs. (updates will be provided once known)

Cynthia and the Family

Throughout all of this, Cynthia has been relentless. She works full time, cares for Ricky, raises Riley and Sienna, manages the household, and coordinates travel and unplanned treatment.
Cynthia is the anchor of her family, she is stubborn in the very best way, always putting on a brave face and has never wanted to ask for help or burden anyone. But with the harsh reality of everything Ricky is now facing medically, asking for help can sadly no longer be avoided.

How You Can Help

At this stage, being together as a family unit is important and will help make Ricky's fight more manageable as the future remains uncertain.

We are hoping to raise funds to cover:

• Ongoing medical appointments and medication
• Travel and accommodation in Perth
• Daily living expenses
• Stability and care for Riley and Sienna
• Financial security so Cynthia and the kids can stay with Ricky without the stress of work or finances

If the unthinkable were to happen, this support will also help ensure Cynthia and the children are cared for.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
