My name is Ricky, and I am asking for help during the hardest fight of my life.
I have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, along with cancer in the lymph nodes in my chest. I am still undergoing extensive testing and treatment, and we do not yet know what the outcome will be. While I focus on fighting this disease, my family is facing an overwhelming financial strain.
Because of my diagnosis, I am currently unable to work. I have applied for disability and Medicaid, but those processes take a long time. Until assistance is approved, we are struggling to cover rent, utilities, groceries, medical bills, prescriptions, and transportation to appointments.
My wife is doing everything she can to support us on a single income, but it is simply not enough. Watching her carry this burden alone has been heartbreaking. I have always been someone who provides for my family, and not being able to do that right now has deeply affected my mental health. Still, I am determined to keep fighting.
