Rick has been bravely fighting a hereditary heart condition for over 10 years. Recently, he began experiencing chest pain and cold sweats. Initial tests suggested nothing concerning, but Rick knew his body — and he knew something wasn’t right.

He was transferred to Boston for more thorough testing, where doctors discovered multiple blockages that required an unexpected triple bypass surgery on 12/12.

Once the surgery began, the team discovered that Rick’s heart function was much lower than they had anticipated. While restoring blood flow has helped, it will take time to know how much his heart will recover. Rick is currently stable, but the next 48 hours are critical as doctors closely monitor his heart’s ability to handle these major changes.

We remain hopeful and believe in Rick’s strength to pull through.

The Financial Impact

This medical emergency has created a sudden and heavy financial burden.

    •    Rick will be out of work for a minimum of 3 months during his recovery.

    •    His wife is also temporarily out of work to care for him.

    •    Medical expenses, insurance premiums, and co-pays are already building.

    •    They still need to maintain their mortgage, car payment, and everyday household bills, while caring for their three children at home.
