I'm starting this fundraiser to raise funds for my father. In 2016, he had major surgery to remove carcinoid cancer tumors from his liver and bowel. He initially was given a 6-month prognosis. However, he's beaten those odds mightily. However, cancer hasn't given up either. It has returned with a vengeance; it has spread to his right hip, which was the reason he was admitted to the hospital on New Year's Eve. He's now at a nursing facility to rehab and gain strength. I'm starting this fundraiser to help raise funds for his care, potentially purchase a motorized scooter to help with his mobility, and just to take some burden off of him with his bills.
My dad Rickey was a professional truck driver for 42 years. He hauled the things that made America move, build, and grow. I'm not one to ask for help, and frankly, I inherited that from him. My mother passed away almost 18 years ago, so I have been the one caring for him.
If I'm honest, my mind hasn't been in the greatest of places. I worry about him every waking moment. He's the most important person in my life right now. I feel so powerless watching him suffer from this. I want to be able to do something for him to ease his burdens.
He was just diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma yesterday as the results of a liver biopsy returned the unfortunate news. His oncologist says he is not strong enough for the chemotherapy right now. This a fast growing and advancing cancer so options are limited right now.
