My stepdad, Rick Wade, has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time. This time, he is battling penile cancer, and his doctors are hopeful that chemotherapy will shrink the tumor enough for surgery to be an option. Recently, Rick faced additional complications after surgery when he developed an abscess that led to a severe infection spreading into his hip. He spent two weeks in the hospital and had to undergo another surgery to remove the infection. As part of his treatment, he also had to receive a colostomy bag.
The chemotherapy and ongoing treatments have taken a tremendous toll on him. He is constantly in pain, often very sick, and unable to work, yet he continues to fight with incredible strength and determination every day. With Rick unable to work, the financial burden on my parents has become overwhelming. In addition to everyday expenses, they are facing a high insurance deductible and significant out-of-pocket medical costs. Unfortunately, his short-term disability benefits come nowhere close to covering these expenses.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated and would help ease some of the stress they are facing during this difficult time. If you're unable to donate, we ask that you please keep Rick and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Anyone who knows Rick knows that he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Now, we're asking for a little help for him as he continues this fight. Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.
