Help Rick Rodriguez on his fight against cancer

Rick Rodriguez was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 Colon Cancer.
I met Rick a few years ago. A hard-working man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a can-do attitude. Rick earned our trust, our friendship and our business, he was our official driver to events, weekends, airport rides, and our go-to person anytime family or friends needed a ride. Before the pandemic, his business was booming and he was thriving.
When the pandemic hit, we stopped going out, so we stopped requesting Rick's services. We didn't see Rick for an entire year until a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe how much he had changed. He lost 100 lb in a year, he looked weak, his voice wasn't strong anymore. He had been dealing with gastrointestinal issues for several months.
He told us the pandemic had taken away his business, as none of his clients called him for a whole year. He had to return his SUV to the dealership and had been living off of unemployment for a year, with the support of his closest friends.
A few days after we saw him, Rick had to go into the emergency room. He had fallen and had been dealing with a swollen leg for several days. He had to undergo several examinations and lab tests and they found blood clots in his leg that had already spread to his lungs. Most importantly they found a mass in his abdomen. He went into surgery, but the surgeon wasn't able to remove the whole mass, due to risk of causing lethal injury to vital organs.
The biopsy came back and we now know that Rick has Stage 1 Colon Cancer. He has been referred to an oncologist for ongoing treatment. Rick is optimistic about his recovery, he wants to get back on his feet, but he definitely needs our help.
Although he has medical insurance, after 11 days of being hospitalized, Rick's insurance deductible is $8550, and there will be a lot more out of pocket expenses.
I promised Rick that I would try to get him some help, so I created this campaign hoping that we can get some support. I know we all have been affected in one way or another in the last year, but if you are in a position to contribute to this campaign, together we can make a difference in the life of Rick.
