Dear University of Miami Band of the Hour Friends
I met Rick Little, ('85 UM Alumni) as we marched in the Band of the Hour on the field in front of the 960 dorm. Band buddies are for life. Though life's journey has taken us all on different paths, I stayed in touch with Rick. I learned he had become a high school science teacher. His interests in wild life photography, cooking, and music continued, but everyone's journey sometime takes a side road. Sometimes we can correct our course and get our health, mind, and spirit back on the right path. Sometimes we need help and know we are lost.
What started as a sharp pain on his side left Rick hospitalized for the last five weeks. His doctors diagnosed it as Pancreatitis Attack. The hardest thing to do in life is to ask for help. Rick has had six surgeries to save his life. His last surgery was the removal of part of his pancreas, his spleen and part of his colon. Rick is a proud man and would not ask for help if he could avoid it. This detour in his journey has been life changing. Please if you can afford to help Rick with a donation, he can start dealing with the reality of medical bills and healing. Rick is very grateful for any amount you can give. So are we all.
