Help Rick and Michelle in Their Time of Need

As I write this, I am watching Rick so weak and helpless. I am physically, emotionally, and mentally, exhausted. What should have been a routine procedure, has turned into a nightmare. On February 3, he went in for Endoscopic Ultrasound to biopsy his Pancreas. 5 hours after the procedure we were in the ER. Test revealed he has Pancreatitis, so he was admitted. The next day he had a CT scan with contrast, he had a reaction to that which resulted in his kidneys, not functioning. Since then, he was put on oxygen, has to have insulin, and dialysis, because he’s full of fluid. On February 10th he is now isolation in ICU with a fever, which he didn’t have until the morning. They are trying to figure it out.

We just closed on a house Jan. 7th and we’re supposed to be starting a new adventure, now I pray we get to do that. We literally put everything we had into this and now I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make the first mortgage payment, because I am on flma non paid, and Kaiser is dragging their feet with what I need to get Rick’s flma and disability started. This wasn’t how we thought this was going to go.

We have been through many things over the last 33 years. We always make it through because of God 1st, our Family, and our circle of friends in Christ. I am struggling seeing Rick like this and being helpless to do anything for him.
