Hello my name is Alicia Hance and I am trying to help my grandfather he is in the later stages of dementia. His name is Rick Carter he was lead electrician at kraft/heinz for 29 years he loved riding his Harley and was looking forward to retiring. A month before retirement he was diagnosed and he has declined rapidly in the last 6 months since his diagnosis in 2019.
Hospice has been coming to the house trying to find the right meds to help with his anxiety and aggression nothing was working. He got very combative and physical about a week ago and 911 had to be called and they took him to the emergency room in Mariposa.
He has been there for 6 days constantly being in restraints due to his aggression. My grandma got his medical all set up for a convalescent hospital although there is no one willing to take him until he is put on the correct medication to help him calm down and no longer a threat to others or himself. Until we can get his medication under control he will need to go to a facility that is capable of helping him.
Unfortunately private pay options are the only places to deal with combative dementia patients before being able to place them. My grandma sold his Harley to go towards his stay, but it's not enough. The private pay facilities are $5,000 a month and with only the first month taken care of we need to plan for the future and the possibility it will take more time.
please help us give him the time he needs to find medications that will work for him and rid him of all the anxiety and aggression that this disease is causing him. We ask any donations towards his care and my grandma being able to stay in their home is appreciated.
Thank you,
Alicia Hance
