Help Richmond complete his master's education at McGill

Hello, my name is Richmond Tackie. In 2024, I was thrilled to be admitted to McGill University to pursue my Master’s in Translational Biomedical Engineering. With technology rapidly transforming healthcare, my aspiration is to work in Research and Development, designing cutting-edge medical devices that will help doctors provide better and more effective treatments for patients with limited options.

This journey has been one of immense growth, perseverance and hard work. As an international student from Ghana, adapting to a new country, and academic environment has been challenging but I have embraced the experience with discipline, grit and determination. My family has made incredible sacrifices, and with bank support, we have been able to cover tuition and living expenses so far. However, sadly, our financial resources are now stretched to the limit.

I am currently in my second semester of a four-semester program, with just one elective and a mandatory co-op/internship left to complete my degree this year in 2025. To afford international education, especially from where I am coming from is not an easy feat. To ease the burden, I had taken on a part-time job while studying full-time, which has been physically and mentally demanding, but I have remained committed and resolute to my goal. Despite my efforts, I now find myself facing a significant financial hurdle that threatens to derail the goal of completing my education.

I am grateful to be blessed with a loving and supportive community who have given support in many ways that I cannot count. I hold these acts of kindness in my heart with immense gratitude. Which is why, at this time, I am asking for further support to cover tuition for the remaining two semesters left. I have realized that sharing your story makes what you are going through known for help to be provided, as such, I am reaching out to my community and kind-hearted individuals. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring me one step closer to aiding in the development of life-saving innovations in healthcare.
