On Tuesday December the 17th, Richie was life flighted to OSU for Stroke like symptoms. Shortly after getting to OSU they found a very large mass in his head after taking an MRI. OSU ran more test and scans to try and figure out more about this mass. After doing a biopsy of the Tumor on the 18th Richie was then kept at OSU until results came in. December 23rd was a painful day. That is the day we all found out for sure this large mass was cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma, nasopharyngeal cancer. This type of cancer is a very rare one in the united states. The oncologist team recommend 8 to 12 rounds of chemo. Each round is 3 weeks long. 2 chemo drugs week one, then one chemo drug week two, with week three being an off week. on December 26th Richie started his first round of chemo. During these scary times in the hospital Richie has had tons of support from his wife, kids and friends. On December 27th we finally got to take Richie back home. Richie and his family are asking for some help during this time. Richie is going to be off work for some time while receiving treatment and traveling back and forth to the James Medical Center. Any money raised is going to go towards medical bills and to help support him and his wife at home while he's not working. Richie Long is one of the toughest people we know. With the support of his family and friends we know Richie can and will beat this cancer. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for any donation you give.
