My name is Richard, and my dog Azzurri is my world. She’s a beautiful pittie/boxer mix with striking blue eyes, and she’s been my loyal companion through some of the hardest times of my life. Recently, my living situation took a turn for the worse when both my roommate and I lost our jobs. Even after receiving rental assistance, we couldn’t keep up with the rent and were evicted. I’ve never struggled this much to find work before, and it’s been a baffling and humbling experience.
A friend let Azzurri and me stay with him for a while, but when he moved, we found ourselves on the street. During this time, I discovered that Azzurri was pregnant. Not wanting her to have her puppies on the street, I made the agonizing decision to relinquish her as a stray so that a wonderful non-profit, no-kill shelter could care for her and her puppies. She’s almost done with the weaning process, and I’ve been promised first option to adopt her back. However, I need to come up with the adoption and associated fees to make that happen. Azzurri had ten puppies—six girls and four boys—but sadly, one of the boys didn’t make it. I’m currently on several housing lists, including with the VA, as I am a veteran, but I need help to get through this transition.
I’ve never been one to ask for a hand-out, but Azzurri is far too important to me for pride to get in the way. She is my only family left, and I am desperate to get her back. For those who consider pets as family, you understand where I’m coming from. I humbly thank you for your kindness and generosity, especially at this time of year when finances are stretched. Your support means the world to a lonely, temporarily homeless man who just wants his dog back because he loves and cherishes her with all his heart. I will succeed in putting our lives back together and will be forever grateful for your help.
