Richard Covey, my ex-husband and the devoted father of our son Richard W., has faced a series of unimaginable medical challenges over the past few months. What began as an infection in his lower leg quickly escalated, spreading to his bloodstream and resulting in a life-threatening crisis. Richard spent 11 days in the ICU, underwent a below-the-knee amputation, and endured a medically induced coma for 10 days. He battled encephalopathy, rhabdomyolysis, sepsis, and renal failure, requiring continuous dialysis for 10 days and ongoing treatments three times a week.

Due to a lapse in his medical insurance at the end of the year, Richard was unexpectedly discharged from the hospital. With no apartment or income, he came to live with me, his ex-wife, and our son, who is a full-time college student. We have moved his tools and personal belongings into storage, hoping for the day he can regain his independence. Richard is in desperate need of medical rehabilitation, ongoing dialysis, and care for his amputation. He has also lost a significant amount of weight and is in need of clothing and basic essentials.

The funds raised will go directly toward Richard’s rehabilitation, medical devices, a prosthesis, clothing, and housing expenses. When he is able to live independently again, your support will help furnish his new home and provide a fresh start.
