Help Richard Kimes Heal After Racing Accident

On July 5th, 2024 our Father, Richard Kimes, was in a drag racing accident causing him severe injuries to his right hand and both arms. His thumb was severed at the track and his right hand was in really bad shape and full of grass, dirt, and gravel. He has multiple broken bones in both arms as well as broken ribs. Unfortunately his hand was so badly damaged that two more fingers needed to be amputated in order to save his hand. His hand is still not out of the woods and there is still a possibility he could lose it. He has undergone several extensive surgeries this first week since the accident and will need numerous more.

Richard served honorably in the Army as an 82nd Airborne Ranger. He is an amazing father and friend and has always had a passion for helping others. Showing up for him in his time of need would be so greatly appreciated. We are asking for donations of any amount to help with any medical bills and expenses that insurance won’t cover. As well as the extensive physical therapy after getting out of the hospital. Our family appreciates all the prayers and support from everyone!

7/13 Update: Yesterday was heavy. My dad went into surgery thinking they were cleaning and repairing his forearm and the surgeon removed so much dead tissue that he had to stop. Now we are looking at an amputation to the elbow. It was a lot to take in but in the end, my dad knows we would rather have a Richard than that stinky arm. Please pray for him.

7/16 update: They did need to remove the radial head in the elbow, but they were able to confirm the muscle and tissue looks great and he shouldn’t need any additional OR trips at this time! Wound vac is still needed, estimated for 2-3 weeks of that. Next will be plastic surgery for skin grafting. He’s in the recovery room now, so I haven’t seen him yet. He’ll definitely be happy to hear no more surgeries for now! Keep those prayers coming, they are still needed for the healing process! ♥️
