Hello, my name is Richard. I am 61 years old. I have squamous cell carcinoma on my nose, and I have no insurance. It has practically eaten my whole nose away. I am desperately in need of help. I’m not the type of person to ask for help, but I don’t know what else to do. I live week to week on my pay, and I have been missing more and more work because of this. I’m afraid I will lose my house and everything. It’s getting worse and worse and it’s now starting to affect my eye. The pain from this is unbearable. I have to cover up my entire nose with Band-Aids just to go out of the house because I feel grotesque. Last year, I got the Obamacare insurance to try to settle this. I had it for six months trying to see doctors who could help me, but I just got the runaround. This insurance cost me $800 per month tax credit. But then at the end of the year, you owe the government that money. Therefore, I had to cancel my insurance before anything could be done. I can’t afford $800 a month. My wife is 68 years old and still working as a cake decorator. I really don’t want to become a burden on her. We still have a mortgage on our home and my wife is getting very worried about losing it. Missing work has really put me in a bind. I just don’t know what else to do. Asking for help is very hard for me. I’ve been a proud man my whole life, working as a house painter for the last 40 years, basically all of my adult life. I have always tried to be there for everyone in their times of need, and I am praying that now karma may come back to me. So now I am asking for help.
