Help Richard Dalton III Replace His Shattered Lens

Richard Dalton III – Sports Photographer

I’m Richard Dalton III, a sports photographer who recently returned to Southeast Alaska after 25+ years in Washington as a graphic designer. My passion for photography and videography comes from my grandfathers—Richard Dalton, Sr., who filmed Hoonah athletic games, and Ernie Hillman, who captured moments of friends and family. Their work inspired me to preserve the memories that bring people together.

My mission is to capture student-athletes in action, giving their friends and family lasting memories of their love for the game. Growing up in Hoonah, I chose music and art over sports, but through my lens, I get to live that passion and share it with others. Being courtside, capturing the intensity, joy, and spirit of the game, is an honor I don’t take for granted.

I started with used gear, gradually upgrading, and recently invested in a high-end lens to improve my work. Unfortunately, a stray basketball shattered it, a tough loss and a hard lesson in not insuring it right away. Many have encouraged me to start a GoFundMe, which is difficult for me—I prefer to give rather than ask. But if you’d like to support replacing my lens, I’d be incredibly grateful. Your generosity helps me continue creating high-quality images and videos for our youth, and I can’t wait to bring even more creative ideas to life for them.
