Hello, as most of you know or paw paw Richard Bennett the backbone of our family passed away on July 6, 2025.
This journey started in 2023 with a sore throat and a horse voice.. We found our self having to rush him to the hospital to find out his throat was almost swollen shut. He was then diagnosed with throat paralysis, and had to have a trach put in on top of all the other health issues he already had. He then stayed in Jackson hospital for about a month and a half and moved to meadville hospital for about a month for physical therapy.. We spent Thanksgiving and Christmas at the hospital with him. We were finally able to bring him home. There were many challenges and serval trips a month back and forth to doctors, and serval hospitals stays during the years of 2024-2025. Fast forward to April 29, 2025….We had to call 911 to come get paw paw because his oxygen dropped to 77 they took him to the hospital in Jackson Ms. Where we found out his trach was 95% blocked off from scar tissue. After two surgeries they were able to get a teach put back in.. He later was sent back to meadville to start physical therapy again.. Once we got there we found out he had to have a feeding tube put in do to aspiration of the food.. The first few weeks there were going good! Then he ended up having to be put on the ventilator because of pneumonia and the beginning stages of sepsis. By the grace of god he over came all that.. We slowly started to turn around for the better.. Then out of no where he had two major strokes and was not getting blood to the left center and left rear side of his brain. As a family we had to make the hardest decision of our life.. to keep him comfortable tell the lord called him home.. On July 6,2025 at 9:11am the lord called him home!
From the very beginning of this journey my wife had to quit her job and be with him at all times.. That left us with just one income and me taking care of everything on my own. We dedicated our whole life to taking care of him. Paw paw took care of me my whole life and raised me as his own. Now it was my turn to take care of my best friend, my father the man that taught me everything I know. We put him first and everything else on the back burner! So bills pilled up and things that needed to be tended to were not. Donations will also go towards helping with final expenses. As a result we find ourselves asking for help.. Please consider donating to our go fund me page!
Any and all donations would be appreciated!
