Help Richard Beat Stage IV Colon Cancer

Hi my name is Amanda. I am fundraising for my brother in law Richard Baker. Richard is a loving Husband of 13 years to Rachelle, Father to Zhane(11) Brody(8) Gracie(5) Brother, Son and Friend.

On December 27, 2021 Richard went to a local instacare with left side abdominal pain. He was told it was possibly a rib fracture and was sent home.

On January 4, 2022 Richard went back to instacare still having horrible pain. They diagnosed it as costochondritis and said it could take up to 6 weeks for the pain to subside.

On January 20th Richard had a fever of 106, body shakes, episodes of passing out and still the pain in his left side.

He was taken to the local emergency room where testing was done. The CT scan showed he had infection in his spleen and was also septic. It also showed spots on his colon and liver. He was transferred to another hospital to receive better care and to run more tests.

On January 26, 2022 Richard received the devastating news that no one expects to hear at the age of 37. He had cancer. Over the next few weeks he had multiple CT scans, MRIs and even blood transfusions.

On February 8th it was confirmed that he has Stage IV colon cancer which has also spread to his liver. Without treatment he was given 3-6 months. With, he was given up to 3 years. He needed to be cleared from being septic, as well as a fistula that had formed needed to heal in order to start chemo. Over the last month Richard has had an intense dose of antibiotics through a PICC line. He is currently waiting for insurance to approve one more CT Scan to get the okay to start chemo.

Richard went from working a full time job, teaching college classes and coaching his kids’ soccer teams to fighting, likely, his biggest fight

Richard is the last one to ask for help, which is why I feel the need to create this fundraiser and help them in some way. To ease some of the financial burden so Richard can spend time making memories with his family and fully focus on kicking cancers butt!!

All donations received will go directly to Richard and Rachelle to pay for medical bills already incurred as well as chemotherapy treatments.
