Dear Friends, Rich Dixon and his wife Becky are not only avid cyclists in our community, but are people making a huge difference for others through the cycling they do. This impact has been going on for quite some time now. Rich, paralyzed below his chest and confined to a wheelchair since 1987 from a spinal cord injury, knows adversity and the faithfulness of God who works for our good in all circumstances. Starting back in 2011, Rich, using a hand powered bicycle, rode over 1,500 miles along the entire length of the Mississippi River and gained vision for their ministry that we all love and call today - the “Freedom Tour.” The Freedom Tour has raised well over $1M for a Project Rescue “Home of Hope” in Southeast Asia that provides care for children who have come out of the red-light district brothels and human trafficking crisis.
A couple of weeks ago while on a ride, Rich heard a loud snap, and his custom hand-cycle bike came to a sudden and complete stop. Upon inspection, he discovered that his bike’s frame had snapped in two. As you can imagine, Rich’s bike provides him with a physical, emotional, and spiritual outlet in his life – not to mention such a huge sense of purpose leading the Freedom Tour ministry. Unfortunately, getting a new custom fitted hand-cycle bike is not as easy, cheap, nor quick to get replaced. It will take 6-9 months once it is ordered and will cost $15,000+.
Rich has been such a huge help to so many people over the years and it’s time that we as his community reciprocate back. As such, I am starting a GoFundMe page and would love for you to participate in helping get Rich back out on the road. Any amount you can give towards Rich’s new bike would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and thanks Rich for all you’ve done over the years to help exploited children have a better life!
