Help Rich Fulfill His Dream Despite Cancer
Hello, I am writing on behalf of my husband Rich. Rich and I will be married 24 years this October and are the proud parents of two sons. Our oldest son, Carter, is in his senior year of college, and our youngest son, Noah, is in 8th grade. Our world has been completely turned upside down since we discovered Rich had Stage 4 colon cancer after an ER visit for stomach pains at the end of October 2024. Rich has been receiving chemotherapy since then, but we have faced roadblock after roadblock. He was hospitalized with a sepsis infection in January of 2025 and had his chemo port removed. Rich had to have chemo suspended for over a month until the infection cleared and a new port could be put in. Once he received a new port, the chemo resumed; however, 2 months later, he contracted a MRSA infection in that port and had to be hospitalized again. Currently, the only way he can receive chemo is through oral medication. Rich has continued to try to work to provide for our family but faces side effects from chemo, the most challenging one being severe neuropathy in his hands and feet. At times, he has difficulty walking. We were told by the doctor that the chemo is working when he is able to have it and that, for now, the cancer has not spread. However, we were given a life expectancy of 2-3 years as Rich's cancer is a very agressive form. Due to compounding expenses, our finances have taken a huge hit.
We are a huge theme park family. Our family has taken several trips to Universal and Disney over the years. In fact, it was after a trip last October to Disney to celebrate our son's 21st birthday that we received the news of Rich's cancer. A bucket list item of Rich's has always been to attend Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando. Halloween Horror Nights is a huge event that takes place every year for several months in the fall. The theme park turns into a series of haunted houses and scare zones. It's a must do for any Universal fan and fan of haunted houses. This year is particularly exciting because there is a WWE haunted house, and Rich is a big wrestling fan. I would love to be able to help fulfill Rich's dream to attend Halloween Horror Nights this year as we do not know what the future holds, and I want Rich to be able to experience what he loves while he is still able to travel. I am requesting funds to help cover a 5-day, 4-night trip so that we can attend over my youngest's fall break in October. Costs will include airfare, hotel, park tickets and expenses for meals. Overall cost would be around $6000 and I am starting off the fundraiser at half of that.
