Richard Pearls, a long time resident of Albertson and member of St. Aidan Parish, has been fighting ALS for 5 years. Recently, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Dealing with, not 1, but 2, devastating, terminal diseases is taking a toll on the family financially and emotionally. Even with insurance, the medical costs are skyrocketing.  Janet, his wife, has been a 1st grade teacher at St. Aidan School for 25 years, this is their only income.  Money raised will help with medical costs not covered by insurance.
Janet and Richard were married at St. Aidan Church, and their three children graduated from St. Aidan School. Despite working two jobs, he still found time to coach Williston Park and St. Aidan CYO baseball and softball teams. Richard has bravely battled ALS with faith, dignity, and optimism. The second diagnosis of stage 4 cancer was devastating, but he is still fighting with the strong faith, renewed dignity, and unlimited optimism that carried him through the past 5 years.
