On August 23 my niece Brittany's husband Rich was sent to Hines VA hospital

They diagnosed him with low blood pressure, a ruptured spleen, 3 broken ribs and bleeding into his liver and stomach.

The VA then transferred him to Stroger Trauma where they did surgery to repair the spleen and stop the bleeding.

He was sent home on Friday but knew something wasn’t right so the following Tuesday (9/2) he went back to Hines and they readmitted him.

They watched all his levels and tried to find answers to why he was in so much pain.

Rich was then discharged and was at home healing and feeling much better until 9/11 when he and Brittany went for lunch. Rich suddenly started slurring his words and wanted to leave.

911 was called and Rich was transported to the hospital where it was confirmed he had a massive stroke.

Along with the stroke Rich was unable to speak or communicate as if he lost all memory.

He knows there’s a connection but doesn’t know names or places. It was discovered also he was bleeding in his spleen again.

As of today 9/12

If he knows something he’ll make noises to try to make you understand or will spell it out

Rich and Brittany could really use some support as this is going to be a long road to recovery.

They are currently waiting to hear if Rich will need surgery or a procedure done for the clot.

Any and all money raised will help ease some of the financial burden this has placed on both of them.

Rich will be out of work for a while longer than expected.
