Update: Hello everyone! As we near discharge, we just found out Ricardo is unable to be eligible for access and other charity causes to help with his going home plan that includes a home health nurse or going into an outpatient facility to receive care for his IV antibiotics, his daily bloodwork, his life long medications that prevent him from having clotting and causing heart problems, and all of the other medical bills/expenses from being in the hospital for 4 weeks. We need more help as he will continue to be out of work due to healing and needing to build more strength while also being able to afford his medical costs and daily expenses. Hi everyone, Ricardo was unfortunately rushed into emergency open-heart surgery on October 21 due to endocarditis to have his aortic valve replaced. The situation was a life or death situation. This surgery happened within 30 minutes of a CT scan being done on his heart while he was in the ER.

Ricardo is going to have a long road to recovery, having other organ issues due to his heart being very overworked. After spending 4 days in the CVICU, we received the news he needed to be transferred to Banner in Phoenix for better care as things weren’t all going as planned at FMC.

Please send prayers, good thoughts and if you can, donate to help him get back on his feet after this unexpected injury and recovery. While Ricardo is not working, he still has multiple expenses, rising each day, let alone hospital bills and the bills his family is incurring during this time to be there, travel costs, and stay costs while not being in Flagstaff. He will be out of work for a minimum of 3 months if not longer once he is released from hospital care. This is a very long road for him and his loved ones to endure. Hola a todos, lamentablemente Ricardo tuvo que ser llevado de emergencia a una cirugía a corazón abierto el 21 de octubre debido a endocarditis, para reemplazarle la válvula aórtica. La situación fue de vida o muerte. Esta cirugía se realizó apenas 30 minutos después de que le hicieran una tomografía (CT scan) de su corazón mientras estaba en urgencias.

Ricardo tiene por delante un largo camino de recuperación, ya que presenta problemas en otros órganos debido a que su corazón ha estado trabajando en exceso. Después de pasar 4 días en la unidad de cuidados intensivos cardiovasculares (CVICU), recibimos la noticia de que debía ser trasladado a Banner, en Phoenix, para recibir una mejor atención, ya que las cosas no estaban saliendo como se esperaba en el FMC.

Por favor, envíen oraciones, buenas vibras y, si pueden, hagan una donación para ayudarlo a recuperarse y ponerse de pie después de esta inesperada cirugía y proceso de recuperación.
