Help Rhys and Family Through Cancer Battle

Dear friends, neighbors, and compassionate supporters,

On June 30th, my beloved 3-year-old nephew Rhys was rushed to the hospital and required an emergency blood transfusion. Just days later, he was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL) — an aggressive form of childhood cancer. Our hearts are shattered as we try to process this devastating news and prepare for the long road ahead.

Rhys is a bright, curious, and joyful little boy who lives on Nantucket Island with his mom (Danelle), dad (Jonathan), and 5-year-old sister Liandri. As Nantucket natives, their roots run deep — this island is their home and community. Jonathan works at Wannacomet Water Company, and Danelle runs a daycare. But right now, their world has been turned upside down.

Rhys must leave the island for treatment, which includes frequent hospital stays, intensive chemotherapy, and constant medical monitoring. Danelle will be forced to temporarily close her daycare to care for him full time, and Liandri will face major changes as the family adjusts to this new reality. Rhys was looking forward to starting preschool this fall, but he will no longer be able to attend.

His treatment will begin with a 28-day hospital stay, during which he cannot return to Nantucket due to safety precautions. After that, he will need to travel back and forth to Boston for ongoing treatment over the next 2–3 years.

We are launching this GoFundMe to help ease the enormous emotional and financial burden they now face. Your donations will go directly toward:

    •    Daily living expenses while both parents are out of work
