We adopted Rhea from a shelter in Philadelphia four years ago when she was just four months old. Since then, she has become a beloved and irreplaceable part of our family. Rhea is a super active, loving dog who brings so much joy and energy into our lives every day.

On April 13, 2026, Rhea underwent surgery to remove a mass on her neck, which was later diagnosed as a mast cell tumor. Because the mass was in such a critical tension spot, her stitches came apart the very next day. We rushed her back to the vet, where they corrected the wound with staples, but unfortunately, those only lasted another three days before the same spot opened up again. On Friday the 17th, Rhea was rushed to the vet hospital for another emergency surgery to remove the staples, clean out the wound, and place three layers of sutures. She is now heavily medicated and sedated to help her heal, which is especially challenging for such a hyper and active dog.

This past week has been incredibly difficult, and we are struggling to keep up with the ongoing veterinary bills. We still have follow-up appointments, medications to refill, and I need to take time off work to make sure Rhea gets the care she needs. This situation is something I could never have prepared for, and it has taken a toll on us financially, mentally, and emotionally. I am so grateful to our community for the support, offers to help, and for checking in on Rhea. Any support for Rhea’s recovery would mean the world to us.
