RFB needs your help to launch The Wall of Shame

A red, white, and blue public art project launching on July 4th, displaying the stories and crimes of the 1,500+ January 6th rioters pardoned by Trump.

The project is a follow-up to 2020’s “Wall of Lies,” the 100-foot-long mural that drew international attention by displaying the 20,000+ lies Trump told in office.

Radio Free Brooklyn is pleased to announce the “Wall of Shame," a powerful and timely visual art project created in collaboration with artist Phil Buehler, depicting the January 6 Capitol rioters who received presidential pardons from Donald Trump.

The Wall of Shame is a 50-foot-long, 10-foot-tall outdoor mural featuring the pardoned January 6 rioters, color-coded to distinguish their actions: violent rioters appear in red, those who damaged property are shown in blue, and the remaining individuals are depicted in white. The installation will be unveiled on July 4th and is free and open to the public. The rioters' stories, charges, and sentences were collected and fact-checked by NPR.

"Given the Trump administration's lies about widespread rioting and looting in Los Angeles to justify the illegal decision to nationalize the California Guard and send in active duty combat marines, Radio Free Brooklyn is here to remind America that January sixth is what a true insurrection looks like," says Rob Prichard, co-founder of Radio Free Brooklyn. "Trump has turned accountability on its head by pardoning violent crimes and criminalizing legitimate protest."

The project is the third in a series of collaborations between Buehler and RFB, which began in 2020 with the “Wall of Lies,” a 50-foot mural displaying over 20,000 lies told by Trump during his first term in office. The project drew attention from the international press, as well as a visit from then Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The second installation, the "Wall of Liars and Deniers," was a mural displaying the hundreds of Republican politicians running in the 2022 midterms who denied Biden's fair election as President.

"With ‘Wall of Shame’, we knew we had to address this pivotal moment in American history," said RFB co-founder Tom Tenney, "The July 4th timing underscores questions about patriotism and the rule of law."

“A red hat, white skin, and blue jeans don’t make you a patriot. But storming the Capitol does make you a traitor,” Buehler added.

The installation will be displayed outside the Pine Box Rock Shop bar at 12 Grattan Street in Bushwick. The official unveiling by the artist will take place at 12:00 noon
